Day in the Life of Candy
What We Did: A Week-Long Internship!
February 10th, 2012Hi,
we’re Estelle and Tanitha, we’re 15 and 14 year old French girls and we’re in the 9th grade at the European International School, Manila. We interned at Candy Magazine for a week from the 6th to the 10th of February. We really enjoyed our stay here, and we’d like to share our experience with you!
DAY 1: We arrived at the building around 09:30 am. Ms Mimi then introduced us to the Candy Team: Sam, Angel, Steph and finally ms Marla who was running late because her electric fan exploded! ![]()
Later on, we had a chat with ms Marla about how the company works and how it’s organized; basically a load of boring (HEY!!! —Marla) stuff that we’ll be needing for our imminent school report! Eek! ![]()
After lunch, we went with ms Sam to the mall to help her borrow clothes from The Ramp and Folded&Hung for the shoot we would be attending on Tuesday. We had a lot of fun choosing the cool summer outfits! And that was it for the day
DAY 2: The next day, we were en route for the photo shoot which was all the way in Quezon City! Once we got there, we helped ms Sam arrange clothes and write down the prices of all the items. The model Havne did an incredible job posing for the camera with all the nice clothes, including some we personally picked out! We’re so excited to see them in the pages of Candy when the issue comes out.
DAY 3: We arrived around 01:00 pm at the office. Our task for the day was to double-check all the websites and telephone numbers of companies mentioned in an article.
After that, we interviewed the Candy Team for our school report. We asked them about their jobs and their roles in the company, which was actually really interesting as we got to see different perspectives of their work as the Candy Team. We might even be considering following in their footsteps!
DAY 4: On Thursday, we were assigned to go to the launching of “Lash King” by Majolica Majorca: a new mascara designed to lengthen, thicken and make your lashes look fabulous! And the best part: it’s waterproof! ![]()
We especially enjoyed getting our fortunes told by the fortune teller! It was both our first time to try it out and we were a little shocked by her predictions which, surprisingly, had a little truth to them! ![]()
There was also a magician in a joker costume- and not like Batman’s archenemy, we mean the medieval kind. He had a few tricks up his sleeves including shifting cards with the wave of the hand, candles that would light up even after being blown out and other awesome illusions. There were a lot of yummy pastries as well which we ate up till our bellies were full!
DAY 5: Today, we interviewed ms Sam for the last time. Our last day has yet to come to and end as we’re writing this article on the said day… But one thing’s for sure: this experience has been amazing and truly different than anything we’ve ever done. We enjoyed every moment of it. We’ll really miss everyone on the Team and this one-of-a-kind experience. We wish we didn’t have to leave but alas, all good things must come to an end!
To the Team: thank you so much for having us, and we’re so very grateful for this exciting journey! We’ll forever treasure everything you’ve taught us and the magazines you gave us as well, haha!
Goodbye!
xoxo, Gossip Girl- just kidding!
Sincerely, Estelle & Tanitha <3
