Hey, guys and gals!
Only two days to go before the Candy Fair and we’re all super excited! Here are the Top 5 Reasons why YOU should be there too!
1. Hanging Out With the Candy Cuties. You used to just read about them and look at their pictures in the magazine. Here’s your chance to actually see them in the flesh! Not only that, you can also talk to them, get their autographs, and have your photos taken with them!

Be sure to bring the Candy Cutie mini-mag that comes with the September ish ’cause it’ll serve as your ticket to the fair. P.S. Cover boy Lance Christopher will be there!
2. Exciting fair booths. Get caught (by a Candy cutie no less) in the jail booth, get “married” to a cutie, test your skills at the Velcro wall, take a peek at the future at the fortune telling booth, dedicate a song to your crush, be a Candy cover girl at the Blow Up Babies booth, and more!
3. Games, games, games. Like a real carnival, try your hand at these games: Bowling Pins and Rings, Darts and Balloon, Pigs Firing Range, Blocks and Balls, Cups and Chips. Exciting prizes are at stake! Better yet, ask that Cutie to try and win a prize for you!
4. Shop till you drop. Be sure to have some cash on hand ’cause there’ll be some pretty awesome shops like Accessorize, Anagon Collection, Claylettes, Fab Manila, Fashion Fruit, and more. The best part? Some of them will be selling their wares at discounted prizes. Woot, woot!
5. Rock with the hottest bands. Your favorites from last year will be there like Sandwich, Hale, and Chicosci, plus some new acts like Taken by Cars, Wake Up Your Seatmate, Out of Body Special, and more!
Okay, this list could go on and on—like I haven’t even mentioned the celebs who’ll be there—but I’ll let Mimi spill the deets on that tomorrow. For now, I’ll leave it at that. More than anything else, I think the Candy Fair is a great bonding opportunity for you and your friends—something you’ll look back on for years and years to come.
So see you this Saturday, September 26, 11 am to 7 pm at the Mega Tent Events Venue, 30 Meralco Avenue, Pasig City. For more information and to see a map to the venue, log on to www.candymag.com/fair.
Down with Fair Fever,
Angel

XOXO
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009The Upper East siders are back! Last night, Mimi, Macy, Angel, and I headed to Aquaknox in Pasay Road for ETC’s Gossip Girl Season 3 Premiere Party. We got to see the first episode of Gossip Girl’s newest season and what can I say, I really missed the show a lot! If you didn’t get to catch the season premiere last night at ETC, I’ll give you a little rundown of the highlights of the first episode.
**SPOILER ALERT!!!**
- Chuck and Blair’s love story continues as they do role-playing so they wouldn’t get bored with each other. Chuck pretends to hit on a girl while Blair pretends to get jealous and make a scene. As soon as the girl walks out, they just look into each other’s eyes and sparks fly like it’s a fairytale. They’re such a cute couple!
- Meanwhile, Serena comes back from her summer trip in Europe with a lot of paparazzi in tow and an old friend, Carter Baizen, who just can’t get his eyes off her. What’s cooking between the two of them?
- Nate Archibald started the season with a lip-locking scene (just like the 2nd season) with a girl that happens to be his family’s number 1 enemy. Grandpa Archibald plans to use Nate’s new apple of the eye, Bree, to get back at the Buckleys.
Catch the latest episode of Gossip Girl 3 exclusively on ETC every Tuesday at 8PM. ETC can be seen on SBN channel 21, SkyCable channel 16, Global Destiny cable channel 28, Cable Link channel 48, and also on MyTV.
You know you love me,
Roch <3

Three Wishes
Friday, September 18th, 2009Hey Candy Girls!
Since I’m turning another year older this weekend, I’ve decided to share with you my wishes. No harm in revealing what they are as long as you channel all your positive energy into helping me make them come true! All right? Here goes…
1) Have the best weekend ever.
Friday: Bowling with the Candy girls. Saturday: Karaoke night with work friends. Sunday: Badminton and Wii with the Tiu clan. The weird weather won’t stop me from having a blast this weekend. I can already taste the caramel filling of my all-time favorite birthday cake!
2) Get the best gifts ever.
I always enjoy unwrapping presents and discovering what’s underneath the pretty packaging, but over the years, some of the best gifts have been simple ones such as getting a surprise call from my brother or hearing my nephew say he misses me. This year, my Aussie relatives sent me birthday money which I used to buy my Katy Perry/Boys Like Girls ticket. Woohoo! Plus, check out what came in the mail today. I can’t stop giggling whenever I open it!
Though I just bought an iPod Classic a few months back, a gadget girl like me can’t help but dream of getting a hold of Steve Jobs’ newest babies! I love the Shuffle because of its size/snazzy finish, and I like the iTouch for its games/applications, but I was totally sold on the new Nano once I found out it had voice-recording capabilities. Weird much?

3) Help me find my own Mr. Will Schuster.
Now this last wish may be harder than usual, but I believe it can happen. I know it will. If Blair managed to get Chuck to admit he loved her, how hard could it be to find an adorable, talented, loyal guy who isn’t gay (no offense to anyone, but you’d be surprised at my track record in college wherein the guys I had crushes on turned out to be NOT into girls). To anyone who manages to find me a real-life Will, please give me a call. Haha!

Seriously though, you girls have all got to watch Glee (it airs on Jack TV and ETC). If you could only invest your time in one new show this year, make this your pick! It beats every other show in town. Every episode is a joy to watch, not just because of the talented cast and fab songs, but also because of the amazing way they tell a story.
Can’t wait for the weekend to come… Oh, it’s here!

FitFlop Fights Cervical Cancer
Thursday, September 17th, 2009Hey, Candy girls!
Last week, Mimi and I attended the launch of FitFlop’s “Pink Line” sandal range. FitFlop is unique because it’s designed to recreate the barefoot walking posture. They challenge hard to reach muscles more when you walk in them, helping you tone and trim muscles in your legs (even while shopping)!
What’s even more special about the Pink Line is that part of the proceeds of every pair’s sale will go to the Cervical Cancer Prevention Network Program, an organization working to eliminate cervical cancer among Filipino women.
Did you know that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women worldwide? In fact, this disease kills 12 Filipinas every day! The good news is, it can easily be prevented with proper education, screening, and cervical cancer vaccination.
The Human Papilloma Virus or HPV is the cause of cervical cancer. GlaxoSmithKline’s cervical cancer vaccine provides significant protection for women against the two most common cancer-causing HPV types (16 and 18).
According to Dr. Carrie Purruganan, Medical Affairs Manager of GSK Philippines, it’s best to get the vaccine when you’re younger since you give the best immune response and it’s more likely that you’re not yet exposed to the virus. The vaccine is given in three doses over a period of six months.
If you’re the type who’s scared of needles, there’s no need to worry. The small pinch you’ll feel when injected with the vaccine is a small price to pay compared to the pain you’ll feel when you actually get sick. FitFlop brand manager Melody Nubla was vaccinated right there and she was still smiling afterwards! Check out this video.
Mimi, Macy, and I actually got vaccinated at the office a few months ago too and it was easy peasy! So for those of you who haven’t gotten the vaccine yet, we strongly advise you to do so. Just ask your parents or your doctor about it.
Safeguarding your health,
Angel
