Day in the Life of Candy
Crushcrushcrush
So, let’s talk about crushes.
My very first crush was way back in the fifth grade. He was my classmate, but we were both very shy and rarely talked to each other. I liked him because he was cute, smart, and had nice handwriting—but mostly because I found out that he had had a crush on me since the third grade. Hehe. (Hey, don’t judge me—I was only eleven!) I don’t know where he is now, because we lost touch when he moved away to a place way up North, a place we shall hide under the codename City of Pines. Hahaha! I’d like to be able to talk to him now and ask him how he’s doing, and probably thank him for seeing in me somebody worth admiring even when I had bad hair and clothes that never seemed to hug my skinny frame and was a total weirdo who wrote poems about the colors of the rainbows in the palm of my hand shining in the sand (I kid you not). I’d also like to ask him this: “If you met me now, instead of twelve years earlier, would you still like me?” And then maybe we can finally be friends.
Real-life crushes are tricky—they ignore you or embarrass you or make lame jokes at your expense. Or, if they end up liking you back, they distract you or fluster you or make you think about them all day. Celebrity crushes, however, are purely fun. Who are yours? We’re cooking up something reaaally special for you for the end of the year, so e-mail me your answers at marlaATcandymagDOTcom. You already know that David Archuleta and Nick Jonas would be in my list—two boys who are both too cute, too talented, and way too young for me. Hehe. These days, though, I have moved on (oooh, moved on—as if naman naging kami) to Go:Audio’s James Matthews. Sigh. He’s the guy with dark hair wearing the plaid shirt in the photo below. He kind of looks like Scouting for Girls’ Roy Stride, but cuter!

Don’t forget to e-mail me your biggest celeb crushies at marlaATcandymagDOTcom, okay? I promise it’ll remain our secret!
Big hugs,
Marla
PS: Belated happy birthday to Patrick Martires, one of Candy’s favorite photographers! Burger burger burger!

Hello, you know what i also had the same experience as you.It seems like if you and your crush dont see each other for a long time it feels awkward. But sometimes i get so shy when he’s in front of me.I remember in grade school that i use to put a codename on him so i can talk about him in front of everybody without him noticing it (he!he!)well i wish you luck!
