Lyrical Match

This imagery struck me when I saw it. I had to take a snapshot to immortalize the moment.

The Duet by Mimi Tiu

It made me think of one of my favorite melancholy tracks, Feist’s “Lonely, Lonely.” I love how there are two trees growing together, thriving despite the fact that they’re swimming in the salty sea. Below are the lyrics to the song. Do you think Feist was writing the song with this picture in mind?

My Cupcake Obsession

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008
by macy

Dearest Candy girls,

Do you ever find yourself falling in love with something? A hobby, a show, an article of clothing. Anything. Something that you lose sleep over or simply can't stop thinking about.

I used to be obsessed about hair cuts. I surfed endlessly for celeb snaps and compiled them into a folder in my phone aptly named "Hair!" Sometimes, I obsess about an album or just one song and I listen to it for three weeks on repeat.

These days the main object of my attraction is the wonderfully sweet cupcake. I like that they're pretty and edible. I've been baking since I was in the seventh grade and one of my dream creations then was a cupcake. I remember I used to make these chocolate cupcakes with a choco-peanut center. They were always underbaked, but my brothers and I would always finish them just as they were cooling. I stopped making them when my pans started rusting. :(

Early this year, my mom and I bought muffin pans so I could try my hand at muffins and cupcakes again. And for the past two months, I've been using them non-stop!

Happy Fix

Hi, Candy Girls!

There are a million little things running through my mind at the moment, so let me make this post quick and easy—a no-brainer list of the top five things I'm obsessing over right now, in no particular order.

1. Macy's Caramel Cupcakes with Swiss Meringue Buttercream Frosting. She brought a dozen to the office yesterday, and they were really, really yummy! I love everything about them: how they look (so pretty!), how they smell (quotable quote: "I want to smell like this every day!"), and of course, how they taste (caramel is my second favorite flavor; coffee is the first, obviously). Macy, you really are making the world a better place one bite at a time. Don't forget us when you're a world-famous baker!

2. Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Fondue. I first got to meet this amazing creation at a shoot with Angel last year, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since (I sound like I'm talking about a boy I'm crushing on, don't I?). I shared this one with my siblings Marcy and Macu last Saturday, and it felt like coming home. There are no words to describe it. Okay, I'll stop now before I freak you out any further.

I've always found it interesting how seemingly trivial and unimportant details can reveal a lot about a person. So I hope you humor me and answer my 5-minute questionnaire right here. I'd love to get to know all of you better! I put in my answers too…

Last night my dinner was

Spaghetti, with that Clara Ole Three Cheese Sauce. I ate it in front of the TV, something I never do but apparently will when I'm missing my dad (who loves watching TV).

For breakfast I had

Strawberry yogurt…and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Which isn't weird at all compared to my lunch: Nestle Fitnesse cereal with low-fat milk…and Oishi Cheese Clubs. Nya!

The 3 most recent things I bought

Big fat headphones, a yellow cardigan from Jellybean, and a ton of paper products I don't need but really like from Club Princess.

I spend way too much on

books (but I've been successfully restraining myself this year…I just avoid Fully Booked and Powerbooks, haha!) and shoes and those sneaky small things that add up, like notepads and lip gloss!

The weirdest thing you'll find in my wallet

is not weird in itself but it's weird that I care—all my bills face in one direction, from lowest denomination to highest, and grubbiest to cleanest within one denomination. But this is okay na because 10 years ago, I actually cared to keep track of my coins and the total amount.

The weirdest thing you'll find in my closet

hand wrap things for boxing

This week I'm looking forward to

The Jansport event on Thursday, and the weekend!

This August I'm looking forward to

counting the days till my parents get back.

This year I'm looking forward to

My bro's super romantic wedding in Ilocos! I want to dress like Maria Clara and visit Paoay Church again.

But for tonight, I'm just hoping I find the time to

study for school and write in my journal.

In other words, vote for DEMZ. Hahahaha!
