Mia’s Church High

I'm usually not the biggest eager beaver when Holy Week rolls around. But my mom and my guy are. So I decided this year, Visita Iglesia will be extra special for me. Instead of going to the usual churches that are near my place, we went to churches I liked—old churches with interesting architectural details, none near my place at all. Every time I get to visit a nice old church, I feel like I'm in another time and place (the ones in Ilocos are amazing :) ).

We had to park in the weirdest places, push through huge crowds, and go home later than usual—but it was all so worth it. Because finding a new way to do the same old thing made me more excited about my faith, and reminded me why I love our country so much.

Check out some of my fave shots from that night:

turista mia Me in turista mode!

all lit up Manila Cathedral all lit up and festive

Love, love those columns! I wish I could have one in my room. Love, love those columns. I wish I could have one in my room.

san sebastian Gothic, slightly creepy, very beautiful. San Sebastian Cathedral's parts came from all over the world.

san sebastian side door Looks like a castle doorway, noh?

san sebastian wall I couldn't stop looking at this.

sta. ana bell tower I have a thing for bell towers (ever since I went to field school), and this one is Sta. Ana's.

full moon There was a full moon that night, and it definitely added to the festive vibe.

Roreyn, you’re so right! I felt it was a great time to say thanks too. :)

Ayessa, I know what you mean about the creepy factor. Once, I had to go to an old church site late at night because my group mate and I were arguing about the position of the ruins. We didn’t realize how creepy it would be until we got there!

Angel, am still inggit with your Batanes pics! :)
