The Many Faces of Batanes
Last Holy Week, my friends and I had a chance to spend seven blissful days in Batanes—a group of islands on the northernmost part of the Philippines. It's a magical place that will transport you to other worlds.
Greece and the Mediterranean Sea. Standing on these stone steps made me feel like a part of ancient civilization. Look at how blue the water is!
Monaco. Doesn't this look like a setting where I can meet a handsome prince?
Italy. In the small town of Basco, we found Casa Napoli, with its yummy garlic and cheese pizza with a thin, hand-tossed crust. It's like discovering a simple restaurant in a quaint side street of a little village in Italy!
Salzburg, Austria. Being in these hills made me want to run and sing, "The hills are alive, with the sound of muuuuusic…"
New Zealand. Being surrounded by mountains, cliffs, and oceans reminded me of being in the adventure capital of the world.
Hobbitown. Standing next to these stone houses made me feel like a hobbit in the Lord of the Rings movie (which was also filmed in NZ)! Oh Frodo, are you there?
Tibet and China. Though there are no snow-capped mountains here, it's the perfect place to meditate… and maybe even practice a few kung-fu moves!
A Disney Movie. Oh, where is the prince who will save me from atop this lonely tower? (Too bad my hair isn't as long as Rapunzel's!)
In the end, no matter how many places you compare Batanes to, it still remains a unique, distinctly Filipino place—a place to seek solace, to find yourself, and just maybe, to have a few magical moments.
So what beautiful places have you visited recently? Let's dish.
Still dreaming,
Angel

Hehe, thanks guys! By the way, I forgot to mention that my pic in the “Disney Movie” (the one where I’m in the window of the sotne house) is the house where they shot the Batanes movie with Iza Calzado and Ken!
