Help Find the Exit
Friday, September 28th, 2007Last Tuesday, Macy and I went to Hard Rock Café to support MTV’s buzz-worthy cause to raise awareness and end exploitation and illegal trafficking of human beings. It sounds serious and unbelievable that it could happen to anyone (yes, even you!), but after watching the 30-minute documentary that included a young Filipina victim and a sleazy old trafficker called “The Chairman,” I was appalled that this was actually happening to thousands of people worldwide!
Lots of people were there to support MTV such as the band Dicta License (the lyrics of their songs were so moving!), US ambassador Kenney (she was so inspiring!), and pop balladeer Christian Bautista (who’s hosting this documentary which will be shown both in Filipino and in English).
Traffic: an MTV Exit Special will premiere on MTV Philippines on October 18, Thursday, 8:30 pm. Be sure to catch it then or during the encore telecasts:
October 20, 9:30 pm
October 24, 3:30 pm
October 27, 1 pm
October 29, 5:30 pm
November 2, 10 am
Let MTV open your eyes and let’s help make the world a better and a safer place to live in!

Remembering September
Thursday, September 27th, 2007Hi, Candy Girls!
Wow, I can’t believe this month is almost over. In a few days, a new month will begin! (Hey, do you guys know that our October issue is out already? Yes! Go, grab a copy!) Time really does fly fast. But before this month is truly gone, I’d like to look back at a few moments in the last two weeks that made September a memorable one.
1. Meeting my former next door neighbor and best friend, Nica, at Nullah’s big sale. It’s been so long since we last got together so it was really good to see her again. (Don’t you just love seeing old friends and catching up?) Plus, Margaux and I scored some really big bargains—everything on the store was 80% off. Woohoo!
2. Watching the premiere of The December Boys, starring none other than cutie Dan Radcliffe. You know I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and it almost made me cry to see Dan play a character that wasn’t Harry! The movie was great though. It shows that Dan is really capable of playing characters that are more mature. And the three other boys with him were super cute too. Be sure to catch it when it shows!
3. Getting a new digital camera! I’ve been wanting a new one ever since my old cam broke and I’m so happy about this early Christmas present. Here are some of the first shots I took the day I got it.
4. Going to the Candy Fair! It was a huge success. I know Mia and Macy said it already, but thanks so much again for coming, guys and gals! Be sure to upload all your fair pics here. Here I am by the photo wall with two of my friends, Jovee and Crystal, who came to give their support.
5. Winning first place in a ballroom dancing competition. No, not me… my mom! She flew to Cebu last weekend to compete and she beat dancers from all over Asia. I'm so proud of her!
6. Meeting my friend Tui, who came all the way from Laos! I haven’t seen her since 2004, when I studied in Singapore, so it was great to catch up and bring her around my home country, along with the other Pinoys in our batch.
7. Getting a group picture of the new and complete Candy team! This was taken during our brainstorming for the Jan-Feb 2008 issue (yes, we’re already planning your issues next year!).
That's Roch, Steph, Margaux, Mimi, me, Marla, Mia, Macy, and Jennie. Go, Girl Power!
8. Visiting my cousin who just gave birth to a healthy baby boy. My new nephew is sooo cute! Meet Joseph Mason Franco or Baby Mace for short. Here I am with the proud new parents.
I just hope the next month will be filled with even more exciting surprises! What made your month a memorable one? Spill!
Love,
Angel

Events Overload
Wednesday, September 26th, 2007It's been a busy month for the Candy Team. As for me, despite the busy schedule and the stress Macy and I have gone through with the loss of our little baby (I'm talking about the Candy Cam, BTW), I was still able to manage to go to presscons and events we were invited to go to.
1. Toblerone's National Thank You Day Launch
Mia, Angel, Margaux and I went to Shangri-La Makati for the Tobelrone event. For the chocoholics that we are, we were so excited to go. It was the launch of the newly created special day, the National Thank You Day. In Reader's Digest, Philippines was said to be one of the least courteous countries in the world that's why Toblerone thought of making a day specially dedicated to give thanks. When we got to the event, we were given a "Mystery Box" and it was instructed not to open until we are told to do so. When the hosts gave us the go signal to open the box, look at what we found…
It's a box of Thank You cards, a pen and 2 tubes of Toblerone! The cards were made especially for the event. They were so cute! We were also given a CD of songs that were also written exclusively for National Thank You Day. You can listen to the songs here. We learned something new, too!
3. Proud To Be Pinoy
The next day, Margaux and I went to Rockwell Tent for Tim Yap's Proud To Be Pinoy watch by ODM. It's his second version of his famous watch. I love ODM! They have a playful yet sophisticated style that you can wear in every outfit. Tim Yap's Special Edition watch and other ODM watches are available in all L Time Studio outlets.
Tiring as it may seem but it's fun. How about you Candy Girls? What event have you been to lately (Candy Fair I assume)? Share it with us!
Love Lots,
Roch <3

P.S. to Mia’s post
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007Here are some pictures taken at our booth. We'll e-mail you your pictures soon, Candy girls! And then, you can join our Best Picture promo! The best Candy cover taken at the Candy Fair `07 wins P5,000! Woohoo!

Test shots while our photographer Pat set up his lights. I love the one where Roch and I are hugging the hanging blurbs.

The Candy Team—well, four of us, anyway.
And another one. Remember your former EIC Ines? She dropped by, too!

Unfortunately, we weren't able to take one of the whole team.
xoxo,
Macy
P.P.S.
Someone swiped our Candy cam that night. And we're all heartbroken about it, especially me. I don't know why. Am I emotionally attached to that video camera? If anyone found it, we're waiting for you to give it back!

Thank You, Candy Girls!
Monday, September 24th, 2007Just wanted to thank each and every one of you who dropped by the Candy Fair last Saturday. You made the event truly special just by being there! I had so much fun meeting you guys and chatting with you. Plus, it was such a thrill seeing all of you enjoying the show and the booths, and generally having a good time. The party was really for YOU, Candy Girls—it was our way of thanking you for being such loyal readers. Hope you all had a blast! Wanted to post some pics of the fair here but my files got corrupted. Will try to post them next time. Again, thanks for coming. Candy Girls rock!
Hugs,
Mia
