Gadget Stress
This lunch, I lined up for the ATM and stood in the queue for about 20 minutes. Just as the person in front of me was about to withdraw money, the bank went offline. Waah! My wait was all for nothing.
Last night, when I was texting Macy, she said that my warped photo came popping out whenever she’d reply to my messages. Freaky! Here’s what she saw:
During the long weekend, my friend Koko went on a white water rafting adventure. Her digital camera ended up getting soaked despite the fact that she put it inside a protective case! It didn’t want to turn on for a while… but after she gave it a pep talk (haha!), it turned on again.
But the freakiest thing happened to my beloved iPod one late night this month. As I was going home, I put my iPod on shuffle mode, and as I was reviewing old pictures, my baby started turning on and off and on and off and on and off… Well, you get the picture.
It scared the hell out of me, like it was possessed or something. I tried resetting it, and turned it off eventually. The next time I used it, it pretended nothing happened.
I never could understand why these machines unexpectedly conk out. Why me, why it, and why now? But you know what I hate even more? It’s when your warranty expires and then your gadget goes cuckoo the day after. What luck!
Sometimes, I wish gadgets could warn us—like they would suddenly be granted the power to speak while you’re using them and say something like, “Hey dear, it’s been fun hanging with you. But our time is almost over.” It sounds lame, I know, but a techie girl can dream, right?
Still loving my gadgets to the bitter end,
Mimi

I totally know how you feel, Mimi! If we could converse with our gadgets, we’d save ourselves tons of stress! It always pays to have a gadget whisperer friend…and that’s what you were today when I was stressing over our server! Haha! Thanks!
