Day in the Life of Candy

Archive for July, 2007

by macy

I've had my phone for a while now, but due to the fact that I only really use it for texting, calling, and listening to music, I haven't explored its different functions. :P

Up until the peeps in Summit Digital started warping their faces with Rio's (you've met him, right?) phone, I had no idea the application existed in my phone! And because I was bummed that they didn't warp my face, I decided to warp it on my own. HAHA! (As you can see to your left, I look hilariously disfigured. I LOVE IT!)

So it wasn't enough that I warped myself, I had to warp the entire Candy team! Hahahaha! Can you guess who's who? :P

Reply to my post with your guesses. Hehe!

We couldn't stop laughing when we took these pictures. I even assigned them to my contacts so that whenever they'd text or call me, their funny warped face would flash on my phone's screen. SO FUNNY!

Last night, I went with Mimi and Marla to a photo shoot and we still couldn't stop warping. Our mission was to make Marla's eyes big. Haha! Check out the results:

Clockwise from top left: Benjie the makeup artist, Dakila our photographer, Mimi trying a side view warp, Me as Quasimodo, a very cute cartoon-y Mimi, Marla with big eyes (success!), Mimi in twister mode, and Marla with very kissable lips.

So whenever I feel like I need some cheering up, I just go to my phone's pictures and check out these pictures. It's bound to make me laugh! Haha!

♥,
Macy

Busy as a Bee

Been sick lately. Frown But this hasn’t stopped me from attending events and shoots left and right. Just yesterday, the Candy girls and I attended two very different but equally exciting events.

Roch, Macy, and I headed to Abenson Avant, Greenbelt 4 for lunch. We were so excited because it was a camera tricks workshop given by professional photographers Jo Avila and Erick Lirios. It was a crash course on how to use digital SLR (single-lens reflex) cameras.

Roch and Macy fooling around during the talk. They were proudly displaying their simple point-and-shoot cameras.

The best part of the whole talk was the contest wherein each table had to lug around a Canon SLR (too bad we couldn’t bring it home!) and take photos around Greenbelt using the tricks taught. We only had 15 minutes to conceptualize and take photos, but we had so much fun!

Macy was our muse. She was in most of the photos. Haha!

Our set of pictures! Roch took the shot of me being pulled up the crane, Mapet (from Daily Tribune) took me squishing Macy (haha!), while I took the last shot of Macy balancing Roch and Mapet. Too bad the others look blurred. I didn’t know it would come out that way because the screen was too small. Oh well!

By the way, if you’re into photography, you have a digital SLR, and you want to learn about photo tricks minus Photoshop manipulation, visit Abenson Avant or call 758-2315 to pre-register for this free workshop which will be held on July 28 (Saturday), 10 am to 5 pm.

After that educational press con, Marla and I met up at the office and made a mad dash to Fiamma, Makati for the CROCS spring-summer collection.

As soon as we got in, we were treated like celebrities. Photographers took pictures of us in front of two different photo walls!

We made the mistake of going up before the show started so we were sadly shooed away. Hahaha! When we were finally asked to go upstairs, we were treated to a cool, all-white fashion show. All the models were sporting CROCS of all shapes and sizes, even the host (Sam Oh) down to the waiters and the security guard at the door! Oh, check out the girl’s funky boots—I love them!

We chatted with the regional director of CROCS who saw my lone Jibbitz (a piano) and decided to give me his Lightning McQueen Jibbitz! Aww… How sweet. Aside from that, CROCS treated us to a bevy of freebies—from Post-its to lip balm to beach ball to keychain. But I’m most excited about the golden ticket which gives us a free pair of any of their newest models—Capri, Cleo, Crete, Ithaca, Patra, Sassari, or Sobek.

Can’t wait for the weekend to come… Harry Potter 7 is out tomorrow!

GMASK is Back!

Hey, Candy guys and gals!

Remember when we blogged about GMASK and featured it in the mag last year? Well, they're back with a new offering! GMASK has tied up with SONY Philippines to offer Filipinos a new way to appreciate and love their Digital Cameras. (Calling all Candy shutterbugs! This is sooo perfect for you!) :D

From July 1 to September 30, 2007, anyone who buys a Cyber-shot digital camera from any participating Sony Square outlet in Metro Manila will have an automatic P150 discount when they have it GMASKed!

But wait! For those who haven't heard about GMASK (Hello, what planet are you from?!), let me tell you what it is. GMASK is the latest and hottest trend in dressing up your gadget, while protecting it at the same time. By using a special protective film from Japan, specially-trained GMASK wrap-artists will cover the entire gadget rendering it scratch, weather, and sweat resistant.  Not only does it let you personalize your gadget, it also extends the life/usage of the gadget!

Here's what your cameras will look like after "GMASKing" them.

sony-dsc-w55.jpgSony DSC-W55

Pretty snazzy, huh? So what are you waiting for? Run to a GMASK outlet near you! (Aaaah! I want one!!! But I think I have to run to Sony to by a camera first. Haha!)

GMASK outlets are located at Alabang Town Center, Glorietta 2,  Greenbelt 1, Shangri-la Mall, Robinsons Ermita, Robinsons Galleria, SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, and Gateway Mall. (Thay also have an outlet opening soon at Cagayan De Oro's Limketkai Mall!)

Participating Sony Square outlets:  Sony Square Megamall, Park Square, Gateway, Fort, Trinoma, Festival Mall, Shangri-La Plaza, and Robinson’s Place in Manila.

Log on to www.gmask.com.ph for more details! Happy GMASKing! ;)

Candymag.com In The Flesh

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Hey Candy Girls!

2 weeks ago, Macy and I had our planning with our other department, Summit Digital. We spent 2 days in Holiday Inn talking about our plans for next year. The much awaited part was our lunch buffet for Day 2 at 7 Corners in Crown Plaza! Macy was so excited she can't wait for that day to come. Here are some snapshots of what we pigged out…

Maki and Salmon Sashimi, Ice Cream Teppanyaki and Merengue through the Choco Fountain

They were just so irresistible! If only there was enough space in our stomachs to eat them all, we shouldn't have left 7 corners and stayed there the whole day to eat all their desserts haha! We ended day 2 with a game of Taboo and guess who won… The girls of course! :P

Well as for the title of my blog, Girls, I want you all to meet the people behind candymag.com…

Chebee, Mel, Macy, Rio and Me.. :D

Chebee is the mastermind of candymag.com's overall look. She's now asked to transfer to another website to work on their new layout. You'll still be a true blue Candy girl, Chebee!:D Mel is Candy's Web Programmer who's in charge of doing the technical stuff within the site (props to her for making the site uber pretty with the added features to make the site more fun to surf on :D). Well, as you know, Macy and I are in charge of the content and videos in the site (well, I guess I don't need to say more since I know you guys are tired with our faces already hehe!:D). And lastly, the new addition to the candymag.com family, Rio! As you can see, he's the only guy in the team (and he's so elated about it!). He replaced Chebee as the official web designer for candymag.com. This pic was taken during the planning, I even screamed to call Mel just to take a pic before they take a swim at Holiday Inn's pool. :)

There you go girls, the candymag.com team! Well I guess it's your first time to see them in the flesh, am I right? Give them props for doing a job well done in making your online hangout the best there is!:D

Still can't get over the craving,
Roch <3

Dearest Candy Girls,

Just as my Hairy Scary story has come to an end (a happy one at that—see July 2 blog entry), I find myself in yet another hair-capade. Last week, Beauty Ed Jennie and I hit the Razzle Dazzle salon along Rada Street in Makati to check out Revlon Professional, a haircare and color line for pros. It's the first time it's hit Manila, and Jennie and I were quite excited. We tried out the hair treatment and coloring and I must admit, the effect was amazing! I have very thick, dark hair, and it has a tendency to look too full and heavy. My new color kind of combats that and brightens my face. See?

happy new hair to me!

Feeling vain but happy,
Mia
