Day in the Life of Candy
A World of Color
February 1st, 2007Hey Candy Guys and Gals!
Last weekend, I went on a trip to Iloilo with some friends. On our first day there, we took a small boat to the island of Guimaras, which was about 15 mintues away from Iloilo. We spent the day relaxing by the beach, snorkeling, island-hopping, and of course, eating!
Here's a shot of us before riding the boat that would take us to the nearby islands of Guimaras. That's Lia, me, Maida, Angie, and Melay—ready to embark on our adventure!

One of our stops was a small cave. It was the perfect place to have a photo op and show off our best model poses!
We parked our boat beside a tiny island where we stopped to have lunch—sandwiches, chips, and chocolates! Yum!

On our second day, we attended the colorful Dinagyang Festival, which was the highlight of our trip! The Dinagyang Festival is celebrated every fourth weekend of January to commemorate the Christianization of the natives and to honor the Holy Child Jesus. The atmosphere was very lively as the different tribes regaled us with their astounding performances!

Their costumes were so colorful and they danced with so much energy—it seems not one person missed a step!

Here we are trying to blend in with the dancers after their street performance.

I’m ready to dance!

A trip to Iloilo is not complete without stopping by The Original Biscocho House. Here I am buying a load of yummy treats—Butterscotch Bars, Barquiron, Galletas, Pinasugbo, and more!
After that trip, Iloilo is now on my list of favorite destinations. What are your favorite places in the Philippines? Let me know so I can hop on a plane/boat/bus and go there too!
Dreaming of my next trip,
Angel

I love Iloilo too! My dad’s from there, so it’s also one of my provinces.
Speaking of my provinces, I suggest you visit Camiguin. It’s a dream destination.
My mom is from there so we go there a lot. We visit my grandparents and some of my cousins. It’s such a small island where everyone knows each other, and incredibly lush and beautiful.
If you go there, don’t hesitate to tell me. I can refer you to the best places and stuff.
Have fun!

Ate Angel, I can see you had a lot of fun at Iloilo. Shame on me (I’m orginally from Iloilo City where i was born and my mom grew up. We only tranferred here from Roxas City few years after) I never been to one Dinagyang Festival. I really really wanna go but my parents are too busy with work but I’ve been to Iloilo like a hundrede times with all tthe traffic and hussle. I never seen Iloilo in its most colorful state. huhu.
sad me! I agree with you Biscocho House is the best there is. *yum!
Ever tried the resto “Afriques”? and to party at Smallville? haha. Yes, those are Iloilo’s best destination.
My favorite place except Boracay would be:
ROXAS CITY!
Our seafood here is to die-for especially “Diwal” (i wish you guys know what it is). The beaches are also refreshing. Many celebs did acknowledge it especially Sponge Cola who perform at Flatrock Resort said its really beautiful. I agree with them!
I wish I could see you here, Ate Angel. The GREAT Wayfarer!

Pearl, I’ve been to Camiguin, pero tagal na I was in high school pa! Haha! We stayed in Paras Beach Resort (is it still alive?) and did all the tours and snorkeling and stuff. I agree, it’s absolutely beautiful! I’d definitely love to go there again. Have you tried climbing Mt. Hibok-Hibok? I’ll call you if I ever plan a trip there. Yay!
Joesyl, the atmosphere in Iloilo is so festive during Dinagyang! You should try to catch it next year. Hey, we did party at Smallville. It was fun! I didn’t expect Iloilo to have such a great party place!
Haven’t tried Afriques though. What kind of food is there? I will try it next time, I’ll definitely be back there! And I will add Roxas City to my list of travel spots. Perhaps I’ll see you there!

Smallville is tight! haha People there are partiholics (is there such a term like this? haha). Yeah, I better go there next year. Afriques is a Italian Resto and the structure of the place is like an old house. The ambience is everything and the food is delectable. Too good for words.
Sure, I’ll see you soon Ate Angel.
You’ll love Roxas City.
