Vote for Felix!
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006If you were at the Candy Fair, you'll remember Candy cutie Felix Rivera as our charming, energetic host (yes, the one who kept calling the stage Pawis Central!). The staff loves him because he's always been so pleasant—in our shoots, in radio and TV guestings, and during his hosting stint at the fair (his first ever, would you believe?). After the fair, he sent us a long, heartwarming letter thanking us for the opportunities we've given him and telling us how much he enjoyed working with us. Aww!

Celebrity Overload!
Monday, October 30th, 2006Dearest Candy girls and boys,
Our November issue is out and I am sooooooo excited! It is SO packed! And full of celebs (of course). Even if you're not a Zac fan (though he's so cute, how can you not be? And we have a big photo of him sporting his new 'do inside!), there are 160 other celebs. Believe me, Mimi and I counted! We went over all the pages and counted each celeb. haha! What fun.
But it was cool knowing that each year, we have more and more celebs inside our celebrity issue :)
I was just about to write about my ultra-fave part in the mag, but I realized that I love everything!!! Check out my ed's page for celebrity impostors! hehe. We had so much fun doing that — and I loved taking a break from the usual ed's letter.
Tell me what you think — and stop staring at your computer screen, go out and buy the issue now so we can all gush!
love heaps,
Ines

Rant and Rave
Friday, October 27th, 2006Hey Candy girls!
I'm feeling a bit lonely 'cause the whole gang's out of the office for a shoot. I had to stay in because: 1) someone had to guard the fort (hehe!), and 2) had to work on my WITCH pages already…
Anyway, I'm sure those of you who attended the fair are still experiencing a high especially after getting close to all those cuties. (I know I am!)Here are some of my favorite snaps from the fair.
Here I am visiting Zee and her friends at the Powernap booth. They had the oddest looking dolls (I mean that in a good way) and the cutest "designer" sneaks. By designer, I mean they'll customize your sneaks with the coolest drawings of your choice for less than P1000! (Visit their site at http://powernapcollective.blogspot.com.)
Haven't seen my friend Gen (in brown) for such a long time. I keep thinking she's still in high school (haha!), so imagine my surprise when I saw her manning the Dutch Mill booth. (By the way, that strawberry drink is so good!!!) Ines and I convinced one of my best friends (Blanche, in stripes) to drop by so that she could see all our cuties and ditch her gay crush. (Haha! Sorry, inside joke!) She also knew Gen so the three of us had a good laugh reminiscing about the old times.
A lot of celebrities dropped by to show their love and support for Candy, but I'm especially grateful for the bands who came and played their tunes at the fair. The girls went wild for Callalily, Craeons, and Sponge Cola! Macy and I got to take a snapshot with Casper of Craeons before she left (galing her voice!), and I got to hang out with the boys of Sponge Cola backstage (love them to bits!). Have to say I was mighty kilig when Yael said hello to me onstage. That was the very first time a celebrity greeted me onstage. HAHAHA! I sound just like a fangirl!
The night ended on a high note, as Sponge Cola played crowd favorites such as "Gemini" and "Jeepney," as well as new hits from Transit, "Bitiw" and "Tuliro." I thought the fun was all over, but then I received a call on my cell. It was Champ Lui Pio of Hale saying he was dropping by. Aww! Here's Macy and me chillin' with yet another Candy Cutie moments before the Candy girls (and boys!) mobbed him for pictures.
By the way, if you love music, and you love supporting good causes, I suggest you head out to the Bonifacio Global City Open Field on December 5, 2006 for the MTV Staying Alive Music Summit for HIV/AIDS. Aside from hearing all your favorite Pinoy bands play, Urbandub and Dicta License will be performing the first-ever anthem for this summit called "Future." Oh, and don't forget to wear RED that night!
On a sad note (here comes my rant!), I'd like to say farewell to one of the Candy staff's all-time favorite drink: the Quickly milk tea. Sniff… I prefer drinking mine with chocolate syrup and sago, but I know for a fact that a lot of Summiteers luuurve this drink. I can't believe that our Quickly booth here decided it was time to stop ordering it. WAAAH!
Wish I could turn back time (to relive the fair and drink lots and lots of Quickly),
Mimi

We just can’t get enough of the fair!
Thursday, October 26th, 2006That’s right, Candy girls and boys! It’s been five days since the fair and we’re still on a high. Our official photographer Dakila took more than 1000 pictures and we’re not yet done browsing through them! I just wish we could share all those snapshots with you guys. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite Candy fair moments!
Being in the spotlight!
Here I am with the Candy editors and hosts Felix and Dawn. It was so hot on stage! (That’s probably why Felix called it “Pawis Central.”) Thank God we were only there for a few minutes!
Here’s a shot of me and Ines being interviewed by MTV!
Battling it out on the Gladiator Joust with my own personal cutie.
My boyfriend Roland was really sweet for staying in the fair the whole day, waiting patiently while I entertained celebs and cuties (Hey, it’s my job!), and “letting me win” the joust! Hehe. By the way, it's his birthday today! Happy birthday, hon!
Marrying off two of my favorite Candy cuties.
Here are Drew Arellano and Reinier Lacsamana with their blushing brides. Aww!
Seeing two-time cover girl Ellen Adarna.
Here she is with her two covers looking as gorgeous as ever. She came all the way from Cebu to attend the fair!
Hanging out with the Council of Cool girls and Candy readers.
Here I am with Ej, Pearl, and MM from this year’s Council. Tracy, Ana, Pia, and some girls from last year’s council were there too. Thanks so much for coming, guys!
Jumping for Joy!
As you can see, it was already dark by the time I tried the trampoline. It was the perfect way to end the day.
We really had a blast and we’re so glad you all did too! Keep those fair stories coming!
Love,
Angel

My turn!
Monday, October 23rd, 2006Because I'm still buzzing with fair fever, I'm replying to Ines' question with my own post.
Here are the stuff I loved about the Certified Candy Fair:

Going there super early. I was at The Fort before 9 AM! It was funny watching the cuties looking quite bored and sleepy while waiting for visitors to come in. Thankfully, they warmed up when they got to have their breakfast and finally started talking to one another. At the end of the day, they were all friends. Aww.
Because I was there early, I was able to roam around by myself for a while. Check out my very emo shot inside the jail booth. Haha!

The HBC makeover bus. Aside from the fact that there was air-conditioning (hehe), I thought it was great that they offered free skin analysis, facial treatments, and makeovers (the nice girl there applied eyeshadow and blush on me). Here I am outside the bus with J, my other favorite Candy cutie (he bullied me into making it a tie between him and Mikee).

The Dutch Mill Style Spot. I love this photo with Mimi, Jose, and Shar. They gave us a free printout, which is proudly displayed on Shar's desk now.

Marrying off Mikee to his pretty bride. They were so cute together—she even got to meet his mom and dad. Lucky gal!

Playing matchmaker. My cousin Ali arrived in the afternoon, and since she came alone, I asked J to help me find her a partner. Our matchmaking worked because it turned out she and Anton used to be classmates. Cool!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful event with us. Big hugs, Marla
