Day in the Life of Candy
Me Time
Last weekend, after consecutive Saturdays of having to go to work, I was finally able to have as much time as I wanted for myself. It was funny, because when I woke up at 9:30 AM that morning, I actually panicked. I assumed it was a weekday, which meant I was already running late (we have to be at the office by 10 AM). I was brushing my teeth when I realized, “Oh great, it’s a Saturday.” I was smiling sheepishly as I snuggled back under my fluffy pink blanket, but I had no more time to feel silly because I fell asleep again right away.
I woke up at around lunchtime, and guess what I did? I washed the dishes, cleaned the bathroom, and did my laundry. Dirty surroundings make me unbelievably cranky, and I honestly enjoy doing these chores. I even gave my stuffed penguin Pinggoy a bubble bath! After that, I took a shower, pampered myself with a much-needed hot oil treatment, and headed to the salon in our building’s ground floor to get a pedicure. I only paid 80 bucks, and it was even better than the ones that cost 150-200.
I was already feeling a bit restless—and extremely hungry—by that time so I walked to the mall to grab a quick bite. I passed by the cinemas and saw that I was just in time for The Breakup. I watched it alone—a first for me—and I’m incredibly proud of myself for doing so. I loved the movie; I love every movie that makes me cry. I’ve never really liked Vince Vaughn, so the whole time I was thinking, “Jen, you deserve a better man! Walk away from that sleazeball forever!” I won’t give away the ending, but I thought it was absolutely wonderful.
Overall, the day was amazingly good for me. It gave me one very valuable lesson: that I should spend time with myself more often. Although it’s great to have meaningful relationships with other people, it’s equally important to nurture my relationship with myself.
How about you guys? What’s Me Time like for you?
Big hugs,
Marla

I hardly get any Me Time — plus I’m now married so when I’m at home, Marc is usually there with me. And at first it used to bother me because I had loads of Me Time before we got hitched! But now we can co-exist and not necessarily have to spend time together. I can be reading stuff for school and he can be surfing the Net and it’s okay. But there are times when he asks what I’m reading and I give him a “Do you seriously want to know?” look and tell him he won’t be interested. haha!
I love spending time by myself — especially when I write in my journal. And I haven’t been doing a lot of that lately because of all the chores and all the work I need to do
But this is a great reminder for me to start making some time for myself too.

I love Me-Time! Me-Time for me is sitting in one quiet corner at Starbucks and read a book. Of course, the moment should be fulfilled with an iced venti non-fat mocha and carrot cake. Oh my, sometimes college is so stressful… it makes me want to take a break and sleep sleep sleep.
But I can’t just sleep the whole day and leave my school work. So I guess Starbucks enough to keep me sane.

Most of the time I do my “Me-Time” in provinces. Especially by the beach (except Boracay). My “Me-Time” is just sitting on the sand, under the sun, reading a good book, or just getting a tan :p When I’m not reading a book (which is almost always) I just reflect on myself. Think about the fun memories that I’ve had, and other stuffs. I like having senti moment with myself :p
My favorite “Me-Time” hangout:
1) Philippines - Our house in Ilocos, other beaches like Tali & Fuego, parks, & soccer fields (esp. the one in Alabang Country Club)
2) Japan - I love it there! It’s so peaceful especially by the rivers.
Sorry if my post is long
Love lots,
NICOLEeey

Joan: I enjoy reading alone in coffee shops too. I remember how I used to study in Starbucks Katipunan all the time for my philosophy oral exams.
Nicole: I love Ilocos! And don’t worry, your post isn’t that long.

I love sleeping!! so when I have the luxury to sleep the whole day, ofcourse when all the chores are finished (which only happens like once evry 3months) I really sleep the whole day, i know not productive but hey! we’re allowed to be a lazyass sometimes!hehe
When I have so much to do, I just listen to music to make me calm or to upbeat my mood for the day.
Who posted this btw? u have a nice place… walking distance to the mall and even has a salon in ur building!! nice….
