May Boy Panelists
Friday, April 28th, 2006Hi Candy girls!
Have you seen the newest issue of Candy? Here’s a pho-blog entry (haha, photo blog!) showing you girls what happened back in February/March.

Our May boy panelists Gio Limjoco, Jai Reyes, and Yael Yuzon put makeup on each other (their secret hobby!)…

NOT!!! Our “groomer”/intern Lia helped them out. Thanks, girl!

“Does my butt look big in these pants?” —Yael

Photographer Miguel Nacianceno takes pictures of Ateneo Blue Eagles’ Jai wearing LA Tenorio’s jersey which LA wore during his last game. He’s a fan!

COC5-turned-contributor Marla Miniano sits down and interviews the boys. Lucky girl!

I’m Back!
Thursday, April 27th, 2006Hey Girls!
I'm back from Boracay and I have so much news to tell you. I was so excited about the trip not just because it was my first time to go to Boracay, but it was also my first time to go on a trip without my parents or any friends. Good thing, Lizette (of MTV) made sure I'd have a blast by giving me a roommate I could relate to. She's Regina Belmonte, a writer from the YS section of the Philippine Star. She was a few years younger than me but we instantly hit it off by talking about One Tree Hill! We even had the same pair of metallic Havaianas!
Anyway, our flight to Boracay got really delayed and I had to wait at the airport for more than 2 hours.
When we got to Caticlan, I saw some of the people who would be with me during the event including VJs KC Montero and Mariel Rodriguez, super manager Jet Valle, JC Cuadrado, band members of Imago, Sugarfree and 6CycleMind, Katya Santos and Andrea del Rosario. We stayed at Boracay Tropics which was at Station 3, a 15 minute walk from D'Mall where most of the festivities and events were going to be held. Our room was really big! The two beds could fit four people. Before leaving for the beach every morning, I made sure that I'd put on sunblock (SPF 70!) on my face and body because I was afraid I'd get super sunburnt (again!).
We were given cute VIP tags made out of cut-up rubber tsinelas pieces and a friendship bracelet so we could pass through the VIP entrance and backstage anytime. (cool huh?) For the entire event, we were to participate in a series of games so we were grouped into 5 teams. I was part of the yellow team together with Mike Swift, Katya Santos, Jet Valle and Zach of Imago. There were a lot of activities and games from a relay to bikini wrestling to an amazing race type of game (I had to drink a whole can of Coke in less than 2 minutes and even eat spicy chicken intestine!), 3 legged volleyball (where I had to be tied to a teammate while playing) and even a swimming competition. Okay, before some of you starts thinking of bikini wrestling as what it literally means, it's not. A big inflatable pool filled with sand and water was set up on the center of the plaza. One person from each team was to get inside the pool and search for buried trinkets. The smaller the trinket, the higher the point! Since everyone was in their swimwear and they would have to wrestle with their opponent to get more trinkets, they decided to name it as such. The rest of us who didn't dive into the pool could do distractions to the opponent with the big tub of water that was given us. It sorta became more of a water fight than a wrestling/bikini treasure hunt competition.
Our team captain, Zach was really leader-material. He gave everyone instructions about what to do and even had strategies on how to win and we were at second place in most of the games. Aside from games, there were concerts held every night. Imago and 6CycleMind played the first night, Sugarfree and Hale the second night and all of them jammed together in one big concert during our final night!
Of course, any vacation won't be complete (for me) without some shopping. I saw a lot of cool stores and cute things I wanted to buy home as pasalubong. We usually didn't have to meet until 2 PM for the games so I spent most of my mornings going shopping. Bikinis, coverups and summer wear were in all stores as well as native-inspired accessories. I bought a lot of keychains to give to my friends and the Candy Staff as well as cute cosmetic pouches and clutches from a store who exports them abroad (Go Pinoy!
)
I was definitely tired when I got back to Manila but the experience was well worth it. I gaine d a new set of friends and priceless memories.
Here's a collage of pictures for all of you girls! Enjoy!
Hugs,
Shar

My atomic green Dunks
Tuesday, April 25th, 2006
About a year ago, my brother showed me a pair of pink and brown Dunks. I got so excited because I thought he bought them for me! I was half-asleep when he showed it to me, so I didn't figure it out until much later that it was for his girlfriend - not me! Hahaha! Oh well, so when he asked me a couple of days ago what my shoe size was, I was thinking he was going to give some girl shoes. I was surprised to see this pair hanging from my closet door the next morning! I got so excited and tried it on right away. He gave my brothers a pair each, too. It's such an occasion because he rarely gives me things. Whenever he gets freebies, it's always guy stuff. But there you go, I have a pair of limited edition white and atomic green (don't you just love the color?!) Dunks, c/o my very generous brother. It's really cute, too with hearts embroidered on the sides.
♥,
Macy

Art and higher things
Tuesday, April 25th, 2006Last night, I attended my friend’s art exhibit at the Ayala Museum. She took a painting class for a few months (she’s always been really good at art!) and last night was the culmination. I felt so grown up and oh-so-cultured entering the museum and looking at the paintings. Believe me, this is not part of my usual routine. Nowadays it’s more of eating in and catching all the episodes of House on DVD! But last night was so great because I was able to see a different world — one where self expression and love (and a whole bunch of other emotions!) can be channeled onto canvas. Amazing. A friend of mine said she was now so inspired to paint (apparently, all my friends are artistic!) and I laughed and said, “I’m not!” because no matter how hard I try, I know that my talents do not lie in art. Doesn’t mean I don’t love it, though. I am so proud of my friends (my other friend, Fran, was also part of that class so we all ended up hanging out after the exhibit!).
But what made me so happy was that after the exhibit, we all decided to grab some dinner (at 10pm!) and we were able to spend time together. I absolutely love being with my girl friends. So when I was thinking of a title for this post — I began with art and ended with higher things — because that’s what friendship is to me. It’s definitely a lot higher on my importance scale than any piece of art because it cannot be captured on film, canvas, or even in words — no matter how hard we try. It’s just so much bigger than us.
This is my friend Fran posing with the art wall. Take a closer look at the paintings. They’re beautiful!
My friends Angel, Fran, and Justine — those two paintings are Angel’s! Isn’t she amazing?
Me and Angel — she’s the one who invited me to the exhibit. Check out my new glasses! I love them!
Here’s to friendship, the greatest art of all!
love, Ines

It’s Friday… YAY!
Friday, April 21st, 2006I’m so inggit with Shar ’cause she’s in Boracay right now for the MTV Summer Break thingy. She’ll be hanging out with the likes of Champ (and lil’ bro Chino!) as well as band members from 6CycleMind, Imago, and Sugarfree. (I’m hoping she’ll post pics with them when she returns!) Since I’m still craving for some fun in the sun, I’ll be hanging out at one of my best buds’ house tomorrow where my cousins and I will be swimming ’til the sun sets. Yahoo! After that, my brother wants us to watch Silent Hill—another sucky movie which I’m guessing will be as bad as (or even more) The Hills Have Eyes. I don’t even know what possessed us to watch the first film, let alone the second one. Even while we were having our annual out-of-town trip, we brought the DVD of Saw 2 (which I wasn’t able to watch, thank God!).
Speaking of other movies, I’ve finally seen RENT. For those of you who know it and have seen it on stage, you’d know that they have a character there named Mimi. I told Ines I wish someone would write me a song too (I didn’t like "Your Eyes" though) or sing to me on my deathbed (just like what Roger did for Mimi). It sounds funny I know, but that’s one of my silly requests.
What have you guys seen lately? I still haven’t watched Tristan & Isolde, but I’m planning to catch it with my best bud Karen a day before her 27th birthday. She’s getting old! Hahaha! Oh, in case you guys didn’t know, Ines celebrated her birthday just yesterday. But don’t ask how old she is ’cause she’s EVEN OLDER than Karen.
Hahahahahaha…
Mimi
