Say hello to our new COC!

Hey Candy girls!

How have y’all been? How were your tests? Hope you did good! We’ve been busy, busy, busy ’cause we’ve been trying to meet our deadlines (so that we could enjoy a stress-free vacation). But of course, even if we’re busy, we want to let you know what’s been going on on our side of the planet. emoticon

This month, we introduced you to our newest batch of young writers: the Council of Cool 6! But instead of just reading their entries, picking our faves, and featuring the girls behind the write-ups (like we usually did for the last few years), we made it more exciting for the COC 6 applicants! This year, we held interviews and dares which showcased how creative and gutsy the applicants could get. (Check out the magazine for the full report! Flip to the Candy Rap pages…)

We had a tough time deciding which girls would make it to the final eight, but it was fun getting to know new girls who’ve been long-time readers of the magazine. I just want to give a personal shout-out to all the girls who tried out but didn’t quite make it. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts and for trying out. (You can always try again next year!) As for the girls who made it (namely Portia, Sweet, Raleigh, Pia, J.C., Ivy, Regine, and Nica), CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you’ll always work hard and submit your assignments on time. Or else, I’ll turn into this… emoticon Hahaha!

Gotta go back to work. Don’t hesitate to let us know how much you liked (or loathed emoticon) this month’s issue. Leave us your messages here or email ines at ines@candymag.com. Choose Candy’s Cover

Hey, Candy girls!

A few weeks ago, I sent out an E newsletter (do you get those e-mails?) asking who wanted my job. I clearly stated that I am not giving it up, but I am giving you a chance to do one of the most important things on my to-do list: choosing the December cover. Every month, the Candy staff and I rack our brains trying to choose colors, poses, photos… etc.! But this time, I want to give you the chance to do just that — it’s such an exciting process that even I get a tiny thrill when the editors of the other Summit mags send us choices for their covers and we get to pick. I always check out the mag on the stands to see if the photo I chose won.

So this time, I am so excited about the Candy readers choosing their cover photo for December! I also want to know what you gals think about the different poses and colors, and of course our cover girl! Go to Candymag.com and vote! Bonding with Bianca!

Even if she just came from hosting her show, Magandang Umaga Pilipinas (can you believe she had been up since three in the morning?!), Bianca was as cheerful and bubbly as ever when she arrived at Pat Dy’s studio for our cover shoot. "I’m so happy I can still model for Candy!" she quips. "Of course," we assure her. After all, we know that you Candy girls absolutely love her! (I think voting her your favorite model at the Candy Rap Awards last March is a testament to that!) emoticon

I sit down to interview Bianca as makeup artist Denise Go styles her hair. She gamely answers my questions, even while her eyebrows were being threaded. (Ouch! And you thought being a model was easy?)
