How do I contour and highlight my face with makeup?
Professional makeup artists contour and highlight to give facial features the illusion of "depth" and "pushing forward" respectively. Dark colors are used for contouring, making full cheeks seem narrow, or a big forehead less imposing. On the flipside, light colors are used to bring facial features forward. Applying a liquid or powder highlighter down the bridge of the nose helps make it look sharper. While these are great makeup tricks, they require skill, practice, and lots of blending, so are not for everyday use. Because these tricks are all about illusion, the wrong blending or application can look unnatural.
