Paint Your Nails in Multiple Thin Layers to Make It Last Longer
Check out four more easy ways guaranteed to make your manicure stay put.

Who doesn't love seeing freshly painted and prepped nails? Apart from looking pretty, a simple manicure can make you feel like a million bucks, too...until your nail job starts chipping off a few days later! Well, before you book another appointment at your favorite nail salon because you accidentally chipped off your vibrant red nail color, check out these easy ways guaranteed to make your manicure last longer!

Wipe your nails with white vinegar or nail polish remover.

Remove oils, water, and other substances from your nails before painting them because these can prevent the polish from sticking to your nails, making it easier to chip the nail polish off.  Yikes! Wipe your nails with white vinegar or nail polish remover to remove excess oils, and then wait for them to dry completely before application. This step won't take too much of your time, but will surely extend the life of your mani!

Get your cuticles out of the way!

Oftentimes, chipping nail polish starts at the cuticle area because the cuticles raise the nail color up from the nail, which makes it prone to chipping off. You can opt not to paint over your cuticles or you can push them back, but never ever attempt to peel or cut them!

Apply nail polish in multiple thin layers.

This might take some time, but the payoff is surely worth it! Applying your polish in multiple thin layers extends the life of your mani and makes it easier to clean mess-ups or to redo the polish if needed. Thin layers also make sure you have multiple barriers of protection, making it less prone to smudging and making it stronger than if you were to put just one thick coat of polish on.

Don't shake your nail polish, roll it instead!

It's almost a no brainer to want to shake your nail polish bottle in frustration when the polish seems to get too sticky or just won't cooperate. Stop right there, Candy Girls! Instead of shaking your nail polish bottles, which produces air bubbles in the polish and leads to easier chipping, roll it instead! Rolling the bottle between your palms warms the polish up and won't form as much air bubbles, too.

Make sure to paint the entire nail (Yes, even those hard-to-reach sides!)

This will take a little more effort than usual, but if you want your mani to last longer, do not scrimp on this step. Although it's super tempting to just paint the easy-to-reach parts of your nail and leave the more difficult side areas, painting the entire nail will lessen the open spaces and gaps by which chipping and breakage can start. Patience pays off, Candy Girls!
