Disney's Girl Meets World has quickly become one of my favorite (US) summer shows because of its earnest storytelling, relatable characters, throwback charm, and… Lucas, Riley's crush played by Peyton Meyer. How cute is he? Super cute.
The opening credits have him flashing those pearly whites, sharing his jacket with Riley, and riding a freaking horse.
Lucas is the new boy at Riley and Maya’s school, but he doesn’t seem like an outsider, quickly making friends with the gang and even taking Maya’s teasing like a pro. Riley’s bestie loves mocking his Texan ways, but he lives by the mantra “kill them with kindness.”
And boy, does it kill Maya.
But don't let his courteous ways fool you—he's got some tricks up his sleeve (or hat), too!
For a boy in middle school, he’s pretty in tune with his feels. Put him between a flirty girl and his new barkada, and he'll go with his newfound friends.
Lucas is the cool to Riley's cray, the Topanga to her Cory. (That's Riley's parents from the show Boy Meets World, which inspired this spinoff.)
So sometimes, boops go wrong. Look at him smiling even with Riley's finger up his nose!
With all of Lucas's winning qualities, Riley’s dad is understandably doing his best to separate the two of them. Must be tough to watch his little girl grow up. But hey, at least Riley's first crush is a really cute and decent gentleman—practically a unicorn, don't you think?
In real life, Peyton is pretty adorable, too. Look at him getting kilig over air-drawing the Disney logo—a rite of passage for most Disney babies.
He's also humble and supportive in real life. That's August Maturo, who plays little Auggie, a Candy Cutie in the making!
Bottom line: This photo by Sabrina Carpenter, who plays Maya, explains it all.
